
The Need
Smack Shack is a seafood restaurant in Minneapolis. It was first launched as a food truck, but turned brick and mortar after they decided they wanted to continue serving up their famous lobster rolls during the winter months.
They had been using MailChimp for years and had a very large database, but were drawn to Zenreach’s ability to seamlessly grow their email list, in addition to the automatic smart emails. It was a great time to give the Zenreach system a try because they wanted to promote holiday gift cards, and they sent a blast promoting that immediately after getting started.
Since they already had a substantial email database, they didn’t have any specific email collection goals but were very excited to see the walkthrough data. No other platform had been able to give them that before, so that was their primary focus was to see the effectiveness of their emails.
The Solution
The installation went smoothly. They already had a router in place that was specifically for guest wifi, so we simply swapped it out with ours. The easy email collection, smart emails, and walkthrough data were all things that they had been missing with MailChimp, so this was a very easy conversion, so they never did bring up any objections.
The POC, Collin, was very easy to work with. He was very familiar with email marketing, so we spent our calls brainstorming various ideas for messages, which he really appreciated. They were most excited about seeing the walkthrough data. Their smart emails and message blasts produced great walkthrough numbers. Because of the success they had, they currently use the system to send out regular message blasts. Most recently, they sent out another blast promoting holiday gift cards based off of the success of last years email.
The Results
Since working with Zenreach, they have collected a total of 3,296 emails and 957 walkthroughs, for a total of $30,634 in incremental revenue. Given the results of the trial, it was easy to convert. We were filling in all the holes that MailChimp had, and they were happy with that.
